13 years ago today I married my BFF.
It was a very very cold day. One of those Idaho winter days where the sun was bright, tons of snow covers the ground, and your nose freezes shut the second you breath in. But today its 34 degrees and I didn't wear a coat while out.
So to celebrate our anniversary, Kenny and I took a trip this past weekend.
Two nights and two and a half days without the kids (thanks mom and dad!).
The first night we drove to Pocatello and ate dinner at Texas Road House (something we can do in our neck of the woods- but we were both hungry so...) and then continued on to Lava Hot Springs.
We left on a thursday night and the hot pools were soooooo crowded! We didn't mind the crowds at all, I was just shocked how busy the pools were on a weeknight. The hot water felt so nice. I love soaking in hot water, and this was such a nice treat.
We got a room at a place real close to the pools and stayed the night there. The next morning we headed to SLC.
Can I just say the GPS was our best friend. We never have a reason to go to Utah, let alone SLC, so we were completely out of our element and would have gotten lost in some ghetto for sure.
On Friday we shopped till we dropped, ate lunch at Whole Foods (man I wish we had one of those stores here... I would look for every excuse to go grocery shopping with a place like that in town) and stayed at a hotel close to the airport. We ate dinner at Joe's Crab Shack and a Pirate came up to our table and made me a balloon flower. Its the only (cell phone) picture I have from the whole trip...
That night we went hot tubbing, got cheesecake and buffalo wings sent to the room, pigged out and watched "Due Date" till we fell asleep.
The next morning we ate at Salt Lake Roasting Co. and I ate an amazing bran muffin. Man I love those. Then we slowly headed home on snowy roads.
We made it into Pocatello for a late lunch and ate at Red Lobster. Then we drove the last 45 miles to reality and 4 kids who were excited to see us (I admit I missed their little selves) and sleep in our own beds.
I love weekend trips with just Kenny and I, but its always nice to be home.
So in honor of 13 years, I will make a list of 13 things (in no particular order) I absolutely love about Kenny.
1. The way he looks at me. Its the same whether I am wearing make up or have a ginormous zit on my face.
2. I love it when he laughs hard. Its not very often but its a piece of paradise when he does.
3. I can count on one hand the number of times in 13 years he's gotten mad at me.
4. I love the way he loves our kids.
5. His tenderness with animals- and don't let him fool you... he is head over heals for our chi-weenie.
6. He still likes to hold my hand in public.
7. He never puts me down...ever.
8. He will randomly bring me little gifts for no particular reason.
9. He loves to shop, and loves to shop in craft stores.
10. He can fix anything.
11. He is very smart and amazes me every time with his wits and brains.
12. He is sooo handsome. Have you seen him?
13. There isn't anyone who I would rather be with right now and I know he feels the same way about me.
So here are two lovely wedding shots from 13 years ago...
