Ever since I can remember I have hated sports. I would get huge amounts of anxiety in grade school because I hated dodgeball, kickball, baseball, soccer, running, and basketball, which were the things we played in P.E. Ick! I get anxiety now just thinking about playing those sports.
In high school I had lame P.E. coaches (to my benefit) who would just sit and chat with the jocks and the rest of us would walk laps or fake cramps. It was great.
So move onto my adulthood. I've enjoyed walking and have considered this my main form of exercise, and not just plain 'ol walking, but fast walking. You know the kind, like those mall walkers. And while I still enjoy a good old fashion exercise walk- I have found my new thing.
Pilates.
For some reason the second I started taking classes on it last year I have become completely obsessed with it. I can actually do it! I don't need rhythm (which is why I can't do Zumba), I don't need any equipment, and I don't need high amounts of endurance.
This years classes started last week and I brought two of my gal pals with me. I just hope they find a liking to it as much as I have. So here are some pics (thanks Brit and Keri for humoring me) of our workout last night. Look how freakin' strong we are!
After every class I feel stronger, leaner, and taller---- bonus cause I'm 5'2.
Anyway, just wanted to share my love of Pilates with ya'll.
Happy Friday!

I'm glad you introduced me to Pilates, although I'm no pro like you - It's a good challenge for me :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're taking the challenge and doing it with me. :]
ReplyDeleteVery cute pics! I need to find a class like that. There's a yoga place not too far from here and I'm tempted ... I like the idea of stretching while strengthening. Sounds lovely.
ReplyDeleteYoga is great CD. If you don't mind heat, as in temperature, try Bikram Yoga. It's yoga posses done in a 100-105 degree room. The theory behind it is the heat softens up the muscles/joints so the posses are easier to do, you stretch better and become more limber. I loved it.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with it! You'll love it!
